Craving a dessert that's as adventurous as it is delicious? Well, buckle up, because our Boozy Salted Caramel Bourbon Milkshake is about to take you on a wild flavor ride!
The first time I whipped up this divine concoction and saw the sheer glee on my hubby's face, I knew we had struck dessert gold. It's not just a showstopper; it's a game-changer!
So, what makes this milkshake so darn special? Let's break it down. It all starts with the velvety smoothness of buttered pecan ice cream. Think creamy goodness with a nutty caramely twist that sets the stage for the flavor explosion to come. And then, my friends, enters the bourbon – a touch of class that elevates this milkshake to new heights. For this round, I reached for Bulleit Bourbon, but feel free to swap it out for your personal favorite – the choice is yours!
Now, let's talk about those praline pecans. These babies are not your average nuts – oh no. Each one is coated in a sugary glaze that, when candied, transforms into pure caramel magic. It's like they level up from ordinary to extraordinary, adding a devine crunch that takes this milkshake to the next level. And when you take that first sip or spoonful, the contrast between the creamy smoothness and the crunchy pecans? It's like a flavor explosion in your mouth!
But hold onto your hats, folks, because we're not done yet! Before serving, we sprinkle on some Heath Bits O' Brickle Toffee Bits because, let's be real, why the heck not? These little nuggets bring an extra punch of crunch and a burst of salty-buttery flavor that'll have you coming back for seconds, thirds, and maybe even fourths!
And let's not forget about that salted caramel swirl – it's the glue that holds this whole masterpiece together. This ain't your run-of-the-mill caramel, folks. Oh no, this stuff is salty, sweet, and downright addictive. It's like the cherry on top of an already perfect dessert – because why settle for good when you can have great?
Our Boozy Salted Caramel Bourbon Milkshake isn't just a drink, it's a full-blown dessert. Whether you're kicking back after a long day or celebrating a special occasion, this milkshake is here to make every moment a little sweeter. So, what are you waiting for? Go ahead, treat yourself – you deserve it!

Chef Secrets for a thick and creamy milkshake
- Use quality ice cream: Opt for a premium, full-fat ice cream with a rich and creamy texture. This will provide a solid base for your milkshake.
- Freeze your ingredients: Before blending, chill your ice cream, bourbon, and any other liquid ingredients. This helps maintain a thick consistency without watering down the milkshake.
- Minimal liquid: Limit the amount of liquid added to the milkshake. Only use milk or cream if necessary, using less liquid will result in a thicker consistency.
- Add ice sparingly: If you want an even thicker milkshake, you can add a few ice cubes to the blender. However, use them sparingly to avoid diluting the flavor.
- Blend slowly: Start blending on low speed to break down the ice cream and other ingredients gradually. This prevents air bubbles from forming, which can thin out the milkshake.
- Use a powerful blender: A high-quality blender with a strong motor will ensure thorough mixing and a smoother, creamier texture.
- Pre-chill your glasses: Place your serving glasses in the freezer for a few minutes before pouring in the milkshake. This helps maintain the cold temperature and thickness of the shake.
- Serve immediately: Enjoy your thick boozy milkshake right away after blending. It tends to thin out if left to sit for too long.

How to Make Our Boozy Salted Caramel Bourbon Milkshake
- Gather Your Ingredients: Collect all the necessary ingredients, including buttered pecan ice cream, bourbon, candied praline pecans, Heath Bits O' Brickle Toffee Bits, salted caramel sauce, and any optional toppings so that your milkshake isn't melting while you race to get everything you need. Also make whipped cream, if you are using it in this recipe.
- Prepare Your Equipment: Ensure your blender, measuring cups and spoons, mixing bowls, and serving glasses are clean and ready for use. It's also helpful to freeze your blender jar before using to keep everything nice and thick.
- Chill Ingredients: If possible, chill your ice cream, bourbon, and any other liquid ingredients in the refrigerator beforehand to help maintain a thick consistency.
- Blend Ingredients: In the blender, combine a generous scoops of buttered pecan ice cream with a 2-oz splash of bourbon. Add a handful of candied praline pecans and a sprinkling of Heath Bits. If desired, drizzle in some salted caramel sauce.
- Blend Until Smooth: Start blending on low speed to break down the ingredients gradually. Increase the speed as needed until the milkshake is smooth and thick.
- Check Consistency: If the milkshake is too thin, you can add more ice cream or a few ice cubes and blend again until desired thickness is achieved.
- Taste and Adjust: Give the milkshake a taste and adjust the flavor as needed. Add more bourbon for a stronger kick or more caramel sauce for extra sweetness.
- Serve Immediately: Pour the milkshake into chilled serving glasses. Top with my Stabilized Whipped Cream, if desired, additional praline pecans, Heath Bits, and a drizzle of salted caramel sauce.
- Enjoy: Serve your boozy salted caramel bourbon milkshake immediately and enjoy every decadent spoonful!
Can you freeze leftover milkshake?
- I'd be surprised if you do, but you may have some leftover milkshake hangin' around. A fun idea is to turn that Boozy Salted Caramel Milkshake into some boozy popsicles! Pour that creamy goodness into popsicle molds and pop them in the freezer for 4-5 hours or overnight. Voila! Boozy popsicles ready to enjoy whenever the mood strikes.
- Note: If you use a larger amount of Bourbon your popsicles may not firm up. Higher proof alcohol doesn't really freeze. If that's the case, store your leftovers in the freezer in an airtight container and enjoy a soft-serve version.
