Ile de France Cheese Giveaway & Asparagus Brie Tart

{See below for Giveaway details}
The nice folks over at Ile de France Cheese contacted me and wanted me to do a review on their brie.  Anyone who knows me, knows how I love cheese, so of course I agreed!  Shortly before we moved, I received a generous box of brie and went to work nibbling and thinking of delicious creations.
I divided my portion of cheese into three sections so that I could taste it different ways.  The first way, and my favorite, is the simplest.  No recipe here…just pure brie goodness.  Sometimes the best thing to do with something that's truly great is to just leave it alone and let it shine.  I warmed this portion of brie in the oven just until it began to melt.  I sliced up fresh baguette and spread this melty cheese on each slice of bread.
This brie is outstanding.  It is rich, creamy and buttery with a mild flavor.  The rind isn't too overpowering either, it just adds a subtle flavor.  It melted very well and was spreadable like butter.  I had a hard time stopping!
Next up….Asparagus Brie Tart
I loved this buttery cheese so much and thought it would pair nicely with asparagus and garlic.
I took 2 sheets of thawed puff pastry dough and folded the outer edge and placed it on a lightly greased nonstick cookie sheet.
Line the center portion with sliced brie
Top the brie with fresh trimmed asparagus.
In a small bowl, whisk together ¼ cup olive oil, 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, 1 clove garlic, minced, salt and pepper to taste and drizzle over asparagus.
Bake for 20 to 30 minutes in a 400 degree oven or until golden brown and flaky.  Allow to cool slightly and slice into serving pieces.
Stay tuned later this week for one more brie recipe!
Now for the giveaway…
