  • Preheat the oven to 325F.
  • Place the garlic cloves, herbs, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes into an oven-safe baking dish. Pour the oil on top. The garlic should be at completely submerged in oil. If it’s not switch to a smaller baking dish or add more oil.
    4 heaping cups garlic cloves, 3 cups olive oil, 4 sprigs fresh rosemary, 4 sprigs fresh thyme, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, ½ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper, ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Bake the garlic uncovered, for 45 minutes or until the cloves are soft and golden in color.
  • Let cool completely before serving or storing.

Notes

Serve with toasted baguette slices
Ingredient Notes:
  • This is one of my favorite quick and easy appetizers, but peeling garlic is one of my least favorite tasks! I am all for using store bought pre-peeled garlic cloves for garlic confit. Sam’s, Costco, HEB, and Whole Foods sell big packs in their refrigerated section that's super-convenient to use.
