Prepare the Glass

  • Rub the rim of your glass with a wedge of grapefruit or lime.
  • Dip the rim into coarse salt to coat evenly.

Mix the Base

  • In the prepared glass, add tequila, freshly squeezed lime juice, grapefruit juice, agave, and a pinch (⅛ teaspoon) of kosher salt; stir to dissolve the salt.
    2 ounces blanco tequila, ½ ounce lime juice, 2 ounces grapefruit juice, ¼ ounce agave, ⅛ teaspoon kosher salt

Add Ice and Soda

  • Fill the glass with ice.
  • Top with chilled grapefruit soda.
    2 ounces Fresca grapefruit soda

Stir and Garnish

  • Stir gently to combine without losing carbonation.
  • Garnish with a fresh lime wheel or quarter slice of grapefruit on the rim or floated on top.

Notes

Ingredient Substitutions:
  • Tequila: Substitute mezcal for a smoky twist.
  • Grapefruit Soda: Try Topo Chico and a splash of grapefruit juice or use Jarritos, Fresca, or Squirt.
  • Simple Syrup: Use agave nectar or honey syrup for natural sweetness.
  • Kosher Salt: Sea salt works as well.
Storage:
  • This cocktail is best enjoyed immediately.
  • Avoid pre-mixing with soda to preserve carbonation.
